I sit here at loss how to even start this rant. Don’t read if it is too long or you hate people complaining about tumblr staff. This is my one time exception because I usually don’t like to whine about the tumblr staff….I received an email from Tumblr Support this morning. Something about copyrights. I know Tumblr has a Content Policy. I get a link in the email to my post that is violating a stated copyright. Of course the post does not exist because they removed it on behalf of the alleged owner of the image.
I ask why they send me a link that does not work. I just wanted to double check what we’re talking about. Yes my email shows my annoyance. I used the word ridiculous. Why don’t they ask me to remove and when I don’t they remove themselves? I am not a kid you know? I gladly will remove any image the owner does not want me to use.
But then, I get a fucking rude email from some Marc. Telling me that my response is ridiculous and asking me “what is still unclear to me” after some explanation.
I mean for fuck’s sake. It is not like I went off ranting. Guess when you are a non paying user/customer you should just accept rude answers from a staff dude. I have been on here for 3 years. I mean for real, if it were not for the people I would be gone a long time.
And, i get a response from this same Marc, like I am a 14 year old girl who has to be scolded and talked to in a way she understands:
Z….. what you did violated a photographers stated copyright, put Tumblr at legal risk and took up Tumblr staff time to resolve. And, rather than apologizing or even quietly accepting responsibility for what you did, you sent a rude email to us. Good customer service does not require that we put up with repeated bad behavior.I’ll make a deal with you. If you will promise to be careful not to violate copyright in the future and to send us emails that are written in a respectful tone, then I promise we will always treat you respectfully in return.Marc—Tumblr Support
I am sitting here in RAGE. Pure rage. I don’t want to feel like I am on parole. Are we talking violating copyrights? We might as well remove the photo button then. For real.
Guess tumblr. just lost its magic for me. Not because I don’t agree with removing that post. But because of the fucking rude behavior of someone who should at least know 2 cents of customer service.
Guess when I post this the servers will be down.

Unfortunately for Licky, she is clearly in violation of the US copyright law, and so according to the DMCA, Tumblr is required to immediately remove the post.
That said, Marc’s response here is highly unprofessional, and Tumblr should be embarrassed. If any of my employees treated a user this way, I’d seriously reconsider their qualifications for the job.
There is no line a user can cross that warrants a rude and unprofessional response. Tumblr should apologize for Marc’s behavior.
